Maureen FitzSimons, better known as Maureen O'Hara in America, was a child prodigy. This was a very natural quality for a woman of Irish heritage, who was surrounded in her early days by talented family members and parents. Maureen entered this loving sanctuary within Ranelagh, Ireland on August 17th, 1920. Marguerita Lu. FitzSimons made a name for herself with her contralto. Charles FitzSimons owned the Shamrock Rovers soccer club in Ireland, and also ran a Dublin business. Maureen was the second child of six FitzSimons children. Peggy, Florrie, Charles B. Fitzsimons, Margot Fitzsimons and James O'Hara completed this beautiful family. Maureen excelled as a sportswoman and participated in rough, competitive games as a child. Additionally she was gifted for acting. She took home almost all Feis Award for Drama and Theatre Performance that her country had to offer. When she was fourteen, she was admitted to the Abbey Theater, where her goal was to study operatic singing as well as classical theater.
